The Forest Practices Board is accepting expressions of interest for a part-time Board Member.  As a Board member, you would bring a reputation for high standards, objective and balanced judgment, and fairness.  You thrive on objectively analyzing forestry/range issues of public importance and providing strategic policy advice.

The Forest Practices Board is an independent government agency that plays a vital part in sustainable forest management within BC. Under the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA), the Board has a mandate to:

In undertaking its mandate, the FPB supports the inclusion and engagement of Indigenous Peoples in forest and range stewardship.

The successful candidate will have high ethical standards and integrity in professional and personal dealings, and exercise sound judgment in carrying out assignments and in communicating with stakeholders, public agencies, or the public. Board members don’t represent any particular stakeholder group and must have the capability to take a broad perspective on issues that represent the public interest.

To reflect the diversity of our province, women, visible minorities, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, and others who may contribute to diversity in public sector tribunal appointments are encouraged to put their names forward for appointment. Board members are appointed by Order-in-Council for a 2 to 3-year term, renewable for a second term. Remuneration is on a per diem basis. Annual time commitment is 25-30 days/year. Part-time Board members may work from anywhere in the province, but occasional travel to Victoria or other locations in the province is required.
